The IonSound Project presents Time Pieces, an evening of live music and original poetry to be held Sunday July 13, 2008 at 7:00 pm at Your Inner Vagabond Coffehouse and World Lounge in Lawrenceville. This upcoming concert continues to celebrate the life of composer Olivier Messiaen by programming works that examine various concepts and perceptions of Time. IonSound has commissioned poets Barbara Edelman and Sharon McDermott to write and recite original poetry inspired by the music on the program. Featured works include David Lang's Little Eye, Orianna Webb's For the Time Being, Dorothy Hindman's Setting Century, Belinda Reynolds' Between You and Me, Edgar Varese's Density 21.5, and Steve Reich's Music for Pieces of Wood. Don't miss experiencing this dynamic group in a unique and atmospheric space in their only performance this summer. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 students and seniors. "Nancy Crow: Works from 1988-2008" Exhibition

The Regina Gouger Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University presents “Nancy Crow: Works from 1988­-2008,” featuring more than 50 quilts that make it the largest exhibition ever of Crow’s work. On June 11, Crow will lecture and sign copies of her books at 7 p.m. in McConomy Auditorium in the University Center. Former Miller Gallery Director Petra Fallaux curates the summer exhibition, which opens with a reception June 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. and runs through August 15.
The Regina Gouger Miller Gallery is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Admission is free.

Rather than assembling a “greatest hits” compilation or a chronological survey of Crow’s career, “Nancy Crow: Works from 1988-­2008” presents the works with an eye toward uncovering the artist’s process of discovery in these pivotal years. The exhibition includes examples of her quilts “Bow Tie,” “Chinese Souls” and “Linear Studies” series, as well as more than 30 works from the “Color Blocks” and “Constructions” series, including a half-dozen new quilts that will be unveiled at the exhibition.

LEMURtron is a modern musical extravaganza like you've never seen or heard before! Combining common and unusual musical instruments with robotic technology, the exhibit features a futuristic 'band' of music makers with members that include GuitarBot, ModBots and the infamous Ill-Tempered Clangier. YOU "play" the "Bots" by moving and dancing on the lighted dance floor, making your own concert of techno music.
LEMURtron is created by LEMUR (League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots), a Brooklyn, NY-based group of artists and technologists creating exotic, sculptural musical instruments which integrate robotic technology. LEMUR was founded by Eric Singer in 2000.

Mt. Lebanon Library Garden Tour

The 18th Annual Mt. Lebanon Library Garden tour will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 12 noon to 5:00 pm rain or shine. Seven Mt. Lebanon Gardens will be on tour. A "Take Me Home" plant sale will be held at the Library during the tour with a large selection of perennials at discounted prices. Tickets $12 in advance or $15 day of the tour and can be purchased at the Library.
