LYDIE BREEZE
BY : John Guare
Part One : Bullfinch's Mythology
Part Two: The Sacredness Of The Next Task
Runs from April 4th to May 4th 2008
A story so big it takes two plays to tell. These exciting plays, explo;ri;ng the lives of three Civil War veterans and their nurse, will be produced in repertory. Part One takes place shortly after the War and Part Two twenty years later. Moving from comedy to melodrama to tragic destiny as it untangles the twisted strands of their lives, these plays illuminate both the undying optimism that underlies the American ethos and the endemic corruption that, so often, can reach beyond its own time to subvert the cherished hopes of the future.
"Guare has managed to capture a rhythm of American life, the scale of the culture's compromise, and the glorious, limping, enduring mess of our idealism." Village Voice
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00PM and Sundays at 2:00PM.
We offer student, senior, and group discounts.
Tickets can be purchased through ProArts at 412 394-3353

BIG LOVE by Charles Mee
Calendar: Local Calendar

04 Apr 2008
America’s most innovative playwright re-imagines the western world’s oldest play in Big Love, a chaotic juxtaposition of poetry, dance, music, and violence inspired by Aeschylus’ The Suppliant Maidens. Fifty reluctant brides seek refuge in Italy from their fifty insistent suitors. What’s a girl to do when her would-be spouse won’t take no for an answer? Kill him. Brutally. Charles Mee’s acclaimed play plunges us into a rollercoaster war of the sexes and rhapsodizes sisterhood, independence, and rare true love.
This production contains violence, profanity, and some nudity.
