The Cellar Dwellers Host DVD Release Party
Calendar: Local Calendar

29 Feb 2008
Local comedy troupe, the Cellar Dwellers, debuted on the Comcast OnDemand channel a few months ago. Now, they’re releasing their first DVD at a giant, four-hour party next Friday, February 29th on the third floor of the Beaver Valley Bowl in Rochester. The party runs from 8pm til midnight, and will feature four hours of theater improv, prizes, and video clips from the DVD.

The troupe has been performing weekly improv workshops in their space in the Beaver Valley Bowl for over three years now. The workshop is called FN’ Improv (the FN’ stands for Friday Night), and features scenes and games made up on the spot. The Dwellers encourage audience participation and suggestions, and never shy away from theater experimentation. The crowds attending the show have grown sharply over the past two years, culminating in the Comcast OnDemand television series and this new DVD.
The party on Friday, Feb. 29th is an open four-hour show, where the audience can come at any time between 8 and midnight. The troupe will be selling their DVD, but also giving out prizes and free refreshments.
“This DVD, and our Comcast show, wouldn’t have happened without the tremendous support of our fans,” says Cellar Dweller Joe Wichryk. “We’re proud of it, and look forward to producing more.”
The Cellar Dwellers have been performing in the tri-state area for over ten years now. When they aren’t doing improv above a bowling alley, they produce sketch comedy shows which have included: A Thousand Rays of Hype, Salvation Impossible III: What’s the Story Purgatory, and Desperate Housewares. The Cellar Dwellers OnDemand show can be found by going to Comcast OnDemand and selecting Your Town> Entertainment> Comedy Spotlight> Cellar Dwellers.

More information can be found at www.TheCellarDwellers.com or by contacting the troupe at info@thecellardwellers.com

The new CD: "We Won't Come Home Til Morning" from Pittsburgh's popular Irish group, Guaranteed Irish, is finally here! Come down to Mullaney's Harp & Fiddle and get a copy for yourself. This is a very well produced CD featuring 17 of the group's favorite songs and tunes. Dave Hanner and Al Snyder (Corbin-Hanner Band) are featured guest musicians. Their last release party had over 750 people attending and this one promises to be bigger. The music hits a nice sweet spot between Celtic and Americana: Up-tempo songs/tunes and poignant ballads from years ago.
Not to be missed!

2008 CAC SUMMER CO-ED SLOW-PITCH SINGLES SOFTBALL LEAGUE

Are you interested in summer socializing, exercise and some fun?
Then we have just the thing for you! Each year CAC organizes a spring-summer co-ed softball league consisting of 7 or 8 teams, with weekly games played every Sunday, beginning in April. Games are played on the VA Medical Center softball field near the Highland Park Zoo. We have some returning and new coaches this year, both female and male.

After the game, we gather at a local bar/restaurant where we talk, eat, and have some post game fun. The entire season is then followed by our annual sports picnic in September where we gather to share a good time.

Our league attracts not only CAC members, but many non-CAC members as well. The league is focused on fun. PEOPLE OF ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE ENCOURAGED TO JOIN, even if you have never played before. Teams are put together using a draft system. Please fill out your application completely (which can be found at www.cacpittsburgh.org or contact Meredith) as players are placed in rounds based on their application. The coaches then draft a player from each round. We have league practice / pick up games on Thursday evenings.

The cost is $35.00 for CAC members, $40.00 for CAC Alumni and $45.00 for non-members. This includes a team shirt and September catered picnic. You must be single and over the age of 21. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. If enough players sign up before the deadline, all additional applications will be placed on the waiting list. All players qualify for league play regardless of softball ability, and if you show up for your game on time, you are guaranteed to play. There will be no refunds after a player has been assigned to a team (mid March).

If you have any questions please call: Meredith at 412-683-8082, or Email mp22gap@yahoo.com

Please complete the application form and return it following these guidelines:
