According to a police report, officers spotted a vehicle, with no lights on, hitting curbs on North Linden Avenue in Point Breeze around 3:40 a.m. Saturday. A pursuit began, and the driver briefly pulled over at Penn and South Braddock avenues, where a female passenger got out of the car. The driver sped away, according to police, and the pursuit continued into Wilkinsburg, where the driver smashed into a bridge.
The driver, who wasn't identified, suffered a possible broken leg and other injuries. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian, where he underwent surgery, and was listed in critical condition, police said. The passenger was found by Port Authority police, police added.
